First of all Thanks go to John Morehead for organising this event with LDYC, thanks to LDYC to welcome us in their great club and this fantastic setup they have where we can sail just in front of the club house. Thank you also to all competitors who travelled from the Cork and Dublin area.

Despite a late start we raced 15 races back to back in what we can only describe as a true Irish weather (not for a summer) with scattered showers cutting our sunny intervals. The wind was good and despite freshening at time in the showers but our racing area was allowing some of the wind to blow over and sheltering us from the weaves allowed us to carry the top rig for the hole day. Though as it is of rigour in RC sailing in a blow you could witness some boats nose diving in the run.

It was fantastic to see new faces : Not too sure of the names so forgive me if they’re wrong but it was a first to see Tony who’s putting the Ericca back together, Charles who quickly found how IOM works - though still need a time machine to slow him down at the starts : couldn’t remember how many OCS he had ;-) and Richy who’s still getting to know his new Vapour. And not to forget our local IOM sailor who despite electric problem was right in the battle when he was on the water.

Dromineer is definitely a location we need to schedule in our calendar for next year.

Down to the racing - well what can I say... A day to forget for John who had problems after problems which resulted in a number of races spent ashore fixing them. I have to give it to you John your boat just looks fantastic ! Brilliant paint job. But the good news is most of his problems are teething problems and with a bit of time at home I’m sure they can be fixed for good.

Andrew had a pretty problem free day - just struggling a bit to find the optimum tuning in that varying wind and we are still looking for the jib boom counter weight so check if it’s not embedded in your boat somewhere !!!

Tony and our local sailor (sorry forgot your name) had some electric problems which where quickly fixed for Tony and for Richy but unfortunately they were too much for our local skipper who had to stop early. Charles showed some great pace and once he’ll have his start issue sorted he’ll be one to watch for sure. I know they say if you’re not OCS you’re not trying hard enough - there is no need to take that to the extreme !!!

The 2 TS2 had a good day and problem free too. Des showed good pace throughout the day but made few bad tactical mistakes and found himself battling in the pack while Gilbert managed to pull out and stay clear in most races.

All in all a great day thanks to John, ldyc and all the skippers.

Definitely one for next year !!!
